Reconstruction of the National Research Council Canada Montreal campus buildings (Feb.15/00)
The next project is a multi-year project to reconstruct accurate 3d models of all of the NRC buildings. This project began Feb.15/00 and will continue for two more co-op terms. Students are recreating the 3D models of the NRC's Montreal Road campus Institutes. They are being assisted by NRC's Administrative Service and Property Management (ASPM). Designers at ASPM's Facilities Engineering Group have been assisting with the Architectural drawings, some dating back to the early 1950's to accurately reconstruct the institutes. These 3D models will eventually be used by the group for space planning, building additions etc. The eventual goal is to recreate the entire campus including the ground elevation. Considering the size of the campus and the number of Institutes, the model would be very useful as a navigational aid for visitors.
