Expertise & Projects

The research program of the Satellite Systems division covers the full cycle from the design of systems and technologies to their integration in advanced subsystems and ground stations. Our main clients are Industry Canada, the Canadian Space Agency and National Defence including the National Search and Rescue Secretariat. We collaborate also with universities and industry partners such as: COM DEV; Telesat; and MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates (MDA).

We work in the following areas:

  • Design and analysis of satellite communication, navigation and search and rescue systems;
  • Digital signal processing for the compensation of analog component imperfections;
  • Prototype development to validate new technologies.

Currently, our main projects are:

  • Design and development of computer tools for the analysis and design of search and rescue systems based on transponders on board radionavigation satellites such as GPS and the future GALILEO system;
  • Design and development on technologies to improve performance of transmitters and receivers in ground stations and satellite payloads.

Our expertise covers all areas involved in a satellite system. Thus we find digital signal processing, activities involving advanced digital and millimeter-wave technologies and integration of these new technologies in advanced systems.

You will find examples of current or past work in our publication list.

The main technologies available for commercialization are presented here.

We also offer expert consultant services.
