The aim of this activity is to investigate strategies to increase C4ISR (Command Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) capabilities for dismounted combatants, urban ops and current operations. The focus is on improved self-awareness and situation awareness of dismounted combatants, platoons or task forces with own sensor/system suite operating in complex terrains where GPS and satellite communications are not available.

Another important aspect of this project is to identify the vulnerabilities and the types of threats that can occur in a MANET. A security model will be proposed that is suitable for MANET features and that provides an acceptable level of security. The focus is on the security within mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs).
