Interoperable Network Secure Communications (INSC Phase II): Mobility Task

June 2004 - December 2006

MANET routing is the next generation IP technology that provides needed support for wireless areas of a network that contain dynamic links and potentially support mobile routing nodes. The initial approach will be to continue to investigate evolving protocol technologies and performance issues begun under Phase 1 and to develop an increased understanding of operational relevance of various approaches that are evolving from the Internet standards perspective. Specific areas for more study in a Phase II effort will include: distributed service discovery, address auto-configuration, multicasting, and further integration with mobile IP approaches and variants. MANET extensions to existing protocols, such as OSPF, will also be under consideration if prototype implementation progress is observed.
