Security and Trust in Dynamic ad-hoc Networks

As part of CRC and DND's requirement to investigate security issues within mobile Ad hoc networks, the objectives of this project are to help improve the protection of information in dynamic wireless ad hoc networks as well as the security and reliability of the networks themselves. Vulnerabilities and deficiencies in mobile ad hoc networks will be researched and addressed with the goal of allowing the networks to securely function in coalition environments without sacrificing the advantages of their dynamic nature. The aim is to allow the deployment of ad hoc, robust, reliable, interoperable, secure networks in areas with or without existing network infrastructure.

The Mobile ad hoc and Sensor Network Systems group will identify and develop algorithms for establishing a trusted model for secure Ad hoc routing where an autonomous (or independent) secure layer will provide routing through trusted nodes in a coalition environment. The trust model will incorporate trust establishment, trust cooperation, and trust confidence.
