The Broadband Applications and Demonstration Laboratory (BADLABTM) is a CRC facility, which is used to develop integrated communications systems comprising fibre-optics, satcom and radio; and
which allows the demonstration and testing of new broadband applications and services through a variety of telecommunications networks across Canada and the world. As a major Canadian research organization working in the area of future communications systems, CRC develops and maintains expertise in broadband systems and related technologies such as advanced IP and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) in order to provide advice on important national initiatives such as the Information Highway, and the National Broadband Task Force and also to demonstrate the application of CRC technologies in a real operational network environment. BADLABTM is a principal node on CA*net 4, Canada's Research and Innovation Network.
