Applications Development

The CRC collaborates with research institutes, academia and private industry on programs of potential public benefit in the following fields:

Link to the VirtualClassroom program. Education: distance education and training through enhanced video conferencing with shared collaborative workspace capability.

Scientific Applications: computer reconstruction of human profiles transmitted via broadband networks for simultaneous analysis by police and forensic experts at different locations.

Engineering: simultaneous collaborative design work at multiple sites; remote control of robotic devices from thousands of kilometres away via multimedia over satellite or ground-based fibre optic cable.

Government Services: AT&T has established a point of presence in the BADLABTM to enable CRC and GTIS to explore and demonstrate broadband applications to potential government clients.

Strategic Alliances: BADLABTM has forged alliances with: OCRI, Telesat Canada, GTIS and AT&T.
