An all-optical network (AON) testbed is a network platform designed to serve as a vehicle to test, verify, validate and demonstrate emerging technologies, advanced network applications, protocols and feasible network control and management strategies. Key network functionalities such as switching, transmission, amplification, attenuation, wavelength conversion, monitoring, multiplexing, demultiplexing and reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexing are incorporated in to the testbed.
