CRC Broadcast Technology at NAB 2010

The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention is the largest conference-exhibition related to Broadcasting in the world along with the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Europe. There is more than 1600 exhibitors on the 900,000+ square feet of exhibit space which is expected to be attended by around 100,000 people.

Because of its relevance to Broadcasting Technologies, staff from CRC attend the NAB every year.

This year's presence will be exceptional considering that CRC was invited by NAB to host a booth as part of the International Research Park where several international broadcast labs will be represented. It is a great opportunity for CRC to show its latest technologies to thousands of industry experts and also to establish new contacts and to explore possible collaborations. Several topics will be presented including technical demonstrations.

Technical Demonstrations

  • Demonstration of CRC's real-time 2D to 3D conversion technique for 3D-TV applications.
  • Demonstration of CRC's Video Frame Rate Conversion (CRC-FRC) technology.
  • Demonstration of CRC's Audio software:
    • CRC-SEAQ : Software for the Subjective and Objective evaluation of audio quality
    • CRC-TimeSync: Software for the recording, play back, display and time synchronization of audio signals
    • CRC Loudness Meter: Software for monitoring of loudness and level of audio signals
  • Live demonstration of CRC's Open Broadcast Platforms: strategic tools for innovation and development of new broadcast applications; an open source software framework that enables broadcast transmission and reception on open handhelds based on Openmoko and Android.

Conference Sessions

A paper by Filippo Speranza on "Perceived Video Quality and Bit Rate in the New ATSC M/H DTV Standard" will be presented during the Mobile Television session.(Sunday, 04/11/2010 2:30PM - 5:30PM)

Bernard Caron will make an invited presentation on ''Technologies and the future of the Broadcast Spectrum'' to a panel on Broadcast Technology Evolution on April 11 at 13:00

CRC-COVLAB

The CRC has also leased floor space (Booth SU 6512) in the commercial area of the NAB trade show to introduce CRC-COVLAB to the USA market. Invitations are being sent to more than 200 of our foreign users of the CRC-COVWEB application “ lrcov”.
