PUBLIC SAFETY

INNOVATION CONTINUUM
Communications Interoperability R&D

As the government's primary research lab for communications technologies, the Communications Research Centre Canada (CRC) is a strategic player in the realm of public safety. Established in 1969, the CRC has decades of expertise in the research and development (R&D) of communications technologies that have a direct impact on our collective national safety.

CRC's strong history of innovation within the public safety spectrum can be seen as a growing, evolving continuum. All of CRC's partners in public safety communications can benefit from its knowledge base - from the radio manufacturers building top-quality products to the decision-makers implementing the systems and, of course, the first responders who put the end products to the ultimate test during real-life emergencies.

From the basic technology building blocks needed to create emerging technologies to the precise testing facilities required to ensure a quality end product, CRC has the full capacity needed to create the next generation of public safety communications technologies. CRC is poised and ready to help the public safety community make the right decisions.

The continuum of CRC's work in developing technologies for public safety communications can be divided into three key areas:
