Dr. Yiyan Wu, Senior Research Scientist with CRC's Broadcast Technology Branch, has been named IEEE Fellow, the highest membership status at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). IEEE is the world's largest professional organization and one of the largest technical and scientific associations, with more than 300,000 members worldwide.
Less than one per cent of IEEE members ever achieve Fellow status. To do so takes passing a rigorous evaluation process, recognition of outstanding achievement by the scientific and technical community, and written recommendations by several IEEE Fellows.
Dr. Wu, who is renowned for his expertise and work in digital television research and standards development, is the second CRC researcher to receive a high honour from IEEE this year. This past spring, John Lodge, manager of CRC's Communications Signal Processing group, received the IEEE Outstanding Engineer Award.
