Two CRC researchers won an award for Best Paper from the world's largest professional organization, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

François Patenaude and John Lodge, of the Communications Signal Processing Group, shared the honour with University of Ottawa professor Jean-Yves Chouinard.

The trio won the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society's 1999 Neal Shepherd Best Propagation Paper Award for their "Eigen Analysis of Wide-Band Fading Channel Impulse Responses," which appears in the March 1999 issue of IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology.

The award was presented at a luncheon held Sept. 27 during the IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference in Boston.
