Gilbert Soulodre, Scott Norcross and Michel Lavoie of the Advanced Audio Systems group (Broadcast Technologies Branch) of CRC have been awarded with the "Best Publication Award" by the Audio Engineering Society (AES) for their paper titled "Objective Measures of Listener Envelopment in Multichannel Audio Systems", published in the Journal of the AES in September 2003. The awards were received during an award ceremony held during the 121th Audio Engineering Society Convention in San Francisco, California, Oct. 5-8, 2006.
This is the second time that researchers from the Advanced Audio Systems group received this award. Bill Treurniet (now retired) was the recipient of the same award in 2001 for a paper which described a method for the objective evaluation of audio quality, which is now an international standard to which CRC was a major contributor.
